10 Tips for Healthy Eating: 
At Home & Eating Out

At Honey Bee Meals, we take pride in serving healthy, freshly prepared meals delivered across the Greater Toronto area.  Whether you enjoy a classic, keto, paleo, vegan or vegetarian diet we offer a wide variety of meals to choose from each week.

For our loyal customers, healthy eating begins at home and we are very proud that we make it easy to do so by leaving the shopping, cooking and cleaning up to us.  We also believe that it is important to enjoy socializing and eating out and sharing a meal is a great way to do that.

The following are a few tips, likely reminders, to ensure you are making healthy choices when eating out.    

  1. Read the menu online before you get to the restaurant so you don’t make any hasty decisions.
  2. Have a healthy snack before you arrive so you are not ravenous when you are seated.
  3. Keep hydrated before and during your meal with still or sparkling water.
  4. Opt for grilled, roasted or poached menu items.
  5. Order two appetizers instead of one main course.
  6. Substitute heavier sides for a double serving of vegetables.
  7. Ask for sauces or dressings on the side and enjoy them in moderation as needed.
  8. Order a soup or a salad to start and extra vegetables with your main.
  9. Share an entrée with someone or ask your server to pack half of the meal up before it is served.
  10. Choose smaller servings of alcohol and order low-calorie mixers like soda water or citrus.
